Butterhorns bread​
Here is one to fill the crowd - Butterhorns Bread. It is the perfect compliment to your Thanksgiving dinner. You will be surely appreciated by your friends and family , and putting those on the table will show your commitment.
You will need:
- 3/4 oz (21g) active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1.5 cups milk
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 5.5 cups bread flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 sticks butter
Directions
- Mix yeast with 2 teaspoons of sugar.

Pour milk in a small saucepan, heat it until skin forms on the top.
Remove from heat, and set aside. -
In a large bowl place 2 sticks of butter, and 1/2 cups of sugar.
Pour the milk on the top, and stir until the butter is melted.
Set aside to cool down, to just above body temperature. - Beat the eggs, and add to the milk, followed by the yeast mixture.

Gradually stir in the flour. Mix as well as you can. Cover with a towel,
and let it rise for an hour, in a warm place. - After the dough has risen, punch down, cover, and refrigerate over night.

The next day divide the dough into 4 equal pieces.
Work one piece at a time, keeping the rest in the fridge. -
Roll the dough, on a lightly floured surface. Form a 12 " circle.
Spread 2 tablespoons of melted butter, and cut into 8 wedges. -
Roll each wedge, starting at the wide end, and place on
a lightly greased baking sheet. Cover with a towel,
and let it rise until doubled. It needs to be in a warm place. -
Preheat oven to 375F (190C), and bake until golden. About 10 minutes.
Remove from oven, and cover with a towel.
