Amazing Christmas Eggnog

I had to sift through, and try quite a few recipes, to reach this perfection. My neighbor told me, she was raised on Eggnog. And after she tried this one she said “…it remind me about my childhood!” Try it, it is great! After you taste this one, you’ll never buy that premixed Eggnog from the store.

You will need:

  • 12 eggs, yolk and whites separated
  • 4 cups of milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1+1 cups of sugar
  • 2-3 cups white rum, or brandy
  • Feel free to multiply the ingredients as needed.
  • You can skip the alcohol, and it becomes kids friendly.

Directions

  • Combine milk, vanilla & cinnamon, and heat over lowest setting for 5 min. Slowly bring to boil.
  • Whisk together egg yolks and sugar, until fluffy. Keep egg whites for later…
  • Slowly whisk hot milk mixture into the eggs.
  • Pour mixture into a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until thick. DO NOT allow to boil.
  • Cool over ice water.
  • With a hand mixer, beat together egg whites with a cup of sugar.
  • In a pitcher, mix together milk/yolk & egg whites mixtures.
  • Stir in Brandy, or Rum, or both.
  • Cover, and refrigerate overnight, before serving. Sprinkle some cinnamon on top, if you wish.
  • Serve, and enjoy!
